It's me again, Wes...
Resorts kick ass. Massages are awesome. The white sand rocks. Fruit shakes are the bomb. The sun is beautiful. The food is soooooooooo good.
Boracay is great, and as you can tell, it continued to be great today. Today, we woke up at 7am. This was because we booked the ladies that gave us massages yesterday, to come back early this morning. It is kind of odd waking up so early… and you would think since I’m on vacation, that I would be doing the opposite, but nope… rise and shine!
First things first right? What better way to start a sunny morning, than to get a one hour massage. Funny thing was, Anthony ended up getting Darren’s masseuse, which was lucky for him, because Anthony’s masseuse from the previous day supposedly had rank body odor…hahaha, too funny.
After our massage, we went for breakfast at the resort. Coffee, watermelon shake, garlic rice, fried egg, and pork. So good…. Man, I’m gaining so much weight, it’s so sad. I can’t believe how much weight I gained over the course of a week. I haven’t weighed myself yet, but I’m sure I’m heavier. So Sad! After breakfast, we took a tricycle to the main part of Boracay. We were going to the foot spa! We got foot massages, pedicures, etc. the whole 9 yards… we were pampered to the nth degree. This place is heaven, I love it here.
After breaky, we had to get to our next destination... the foot spa! We took a 50 peso tricycle cab ride to the main part of town.
The foot spa experience was pretty funny. Lisa, Becky, Darren, Anth, and myself all got foot treatments. This includes a foot/leg massage, cleaning, foot bath, and of course a pedicure.
It turns out they take this tool which is basically sand paper, and grind all your calluses down, and strip off all the dead skin. It’s kind of gross if you think about it, but hey, I didn’t have to work on my feet, hehe. It’s cheap too! We’re talking like 7-8 bucks for this treatment. The funniest part of the day had to have been at the spa... I asked the ladies/men working on our feet if Lisa’s feet were bad, and the lady said no. Then I asked Darren’s guy if his feet were bad, and he said no. And then I asked mine, and she said no. Then I asked Anthony’s lady, and she nodded her head and said “yes, they’re bad” hahahaha… hilarious, we all started cracking up. Then I asked, “how bad?” and then she replied in tagalog: “it’s the worse I’ve ever seen” hahahahhaha… we couldn’t stop laughing. When all our feet had been sanded, Anthony was still on his 1st foot…. Talk about funny. Anyhow, enough about that, here’s some pictures of the event. Here's the lady that was working on Anth's feet (poor lady, hehe):
Thanks for a great time Boracay, you served us well =) Here's some photos of us prior to leaving:
We took our 30-35 minute boat ride back to Caticalan (where the airport is), and boarded our Ghetto Air flight back to Vancouver. It was time again to get on the scary flight, however, the flight back wasn’t nearly as scary as the flight there… I guess we got used to it or something.
When we got back into Manila, the driver drove us back to our place. We ordered takeout JollyBee… for this was the first time that Darren, Becky, and Anthony would taste the Philippines most famous fast food. Here's a photo of us taken with the JollyBee mascot:
We ate then got ready for dinner. Yeah, exactly.. we just ate, and now we're going for dinner. Dinner tonight was at Gloria Maris again. This dinner was actually for Lisa and myself setup by my mother-in-law, Catalina. It was basically to introduce myself and Lisa as a married couple to all of our relatives in Manila. Thanks Mom for setting this up! It was nice meeting all of the new relatives, they are all so nice. I hope I was able to leave a good impression upon them. Here's some photos from the dinner:
The chinese food here is really REALLY good. I'm not sure what it is... it might be because all of the food we eat is actually alot different than Vancouver. Different, in that it's not the typical 10 course meals you get in Vancouver. Bottom line, is that it's good!
That was our day today in Manila. Lisa and I went home after dinner, while Anth, Dar, and Becky went out for dessert with Kerwin and his wife Sharon. They went to some cafe called UCC. I had alot to do... like blog. Anyhow, another day of our vacation has passed. Oh no! it's already almost a 1/3 of the way done.
We have a new day tomorrow, more fun in Manila... woohoo!
