October 22, 2006 Bye Bye Hong Kong... Hello Ko Samui!

Lisa and I woke up pretty late, abouut 11:30 in the morning to be exact. I already packed the evening before, so I was already ready to go. We called in for a late check-out at 2PM. I took the MTR to Mong Kok to buy a battery pack for the SLR camera. I went to return all our Octopus cards and get back all our deposit money.

I got back to the hotel, had a quick lunch with Lisa and back to the hotel room. We checked out and we were on our way to the airport. We ended up bumping in to Ker and Dalida at the airport, so it was nice seeing them one last time prior to leaving. Our Bangkok Air experience was actually a pretty good one! There was a meal served, as well as free wine and beer. All of the girls on the trip (Becky, Tammy, Christina, Lisa) are drinking way more than any of the guys. It's quite impressive! One plus is that beer has been relatively cheap all trip.

The airport in Ko Samui is really neat. It's an outdoor airport with outdoor immigration, outdoor baggage claim, etc. We took 2 vans to our resort... The Amari Palm Reef Resort. The resort is really nice.... here are the photos to prove it:

We checked in, showered, and headed out for dinner. We walked along the main strip, but alot of the restaurants were already closed. We ended up going to the first restaurant that we could find that was open because we were starved. The food was excellent. Pad thai, thai curry, tom yum soup, etc. It was relatively cheap too!

Anyhow, after dinner, most of the people left, but Darren, Becky, Jimmy T, Christina, Lisa, and myself headed across the street and went for a massage. A one hour massage was 250 Baht, which works out to about 8 bucks Canadian. Can't go wrong with that! It was awesome too, way better than our beachside massage in Boracay, because this was in a clean environment with air conditioning. (Darren ended up getting a foot massage)

After our massage, I felt so relaxed that it was time to go back to our resort and sleep. BUT! football was on, and of course I had to watch the awesome Steelers and Falcons game before I went to bed. I conked out around 3am... till tomorrow!
