October 8, 2006 Shanghai

Day 3 in Shanghai. So today is our final day in Shanghai. Wes went to work out again in the morning. I should have gone with him but who wouldn’t rather sleep than go to the gym?

We checked out around 12ish and just left our luggage at the hotel. I’ve been looking forward to a full day of eating today so we hit the food places right away. First stop was the food market across the street from the hotel. Wes ordered some noodle soup I was eyeing, while I lined up for the deep fried dumplings that we discovered yesterday. Unbelievably oily, but very yummy!

That’s one thing that kinda sucks about food here in Shanghai. Everything is VERY oily. Although that doesn’t stop me from eating it! AND for some reason drinks here are never cold. Pop is barely cold, beer is pretty much warm…yuck. We ordered fruit juices and they never have ice. Wes kept complaining about it because he loves his pop ice cold, and it’s very hot here so we were always looking for nice cold drinks.

We walked back to the studio because we had to choose the pictures we wanted for the album. The pictures as ok. About what we expected and can’t beat the price.

After that we walked back to the street that Christina originally took us to and had some more street food. We had the pan fried siao long bao again, and we also tried the wings this time. I think you get like 7-8 wings for $1.50! And they were yummy.

Then we walked some more and I saw these egg tarts that I just had to try. They were sooo good! The crust was flaky, and the custard so creamy. So I had to go back and buy a couple of boxes to take back to Manila with me.

So we didn’t know what else to do today. We hadn’t done any shopping at all so we walked Nan Jing road and checked out some of the stores. Most of the stores we saw were expensive European brand stores..not exactly what we came Shanghai to check out. I didn’t buy anything during this trip to Shanghai! NOTHING! Who comes to Shanghai and doesn’t buy a thing? I’m so proud. Ha!

Got tired of walking so we chilled out at a patio along Nan Jing. It’s mostly white people in this patio, figures cause the drinks aren’t cheap. So I just blogged, and just people watched. Here's a photo of me blogging.

Our flight to Singapore (on route to Manila) wasn’t until midnight so we thought we’d chill out there while we wait for our flight. At about 4pm, we got really bored sitting and we were too tired to walk more. James was supposed to get earlier so we could have dinner together, but his flight was delayed. So instead we thought we’d be S-M-R-T and go to the airport early to check-in so we can hang out in the executive lounge and have internet access.

So off we went to get our luggage and took a cab to the airport. The cab driver was CRAZY!! He was driving soo fast and passing all the cars ahead of us! I was really freaked out especially since I just got into an accident before leaving for our trip. We finally got to the airport in one piece, only to find out that we couldn’t check in until 3 hours before the flight!! Which means we had another 5 hours to kill!!! Arg! We weren’t so S-M-R-T after all. So we walked around trying to find a place to sit down, and finally settled into one of cafĂ©’s on the 2nd floor. Voila! Internet Access! We spent about $10usd for food, with 4 hours of internet. What a deal.

Finally we checked in and got to chill at the Singapore Airlines executive lounge. It was a little small, but they had the most food out of all the lounges we visited so far. Had a salad bar, cheese platters, mini dinner buffet, or course drinks…yum...again can’t beat free food!

Off to our flight to Singapore! Zai Jien!
