October 23, 2006 Ko Samui Day 2.... (just posted lots of photos for the past 3 days)
We got up at around 10ish today. Breakfast was only being served until 10:30 so we rushed out to get some grub. Everybody else was already eating by the time we made it to the restaurant. The breakfast buffet was quite impressive! Lots of variety, lots of food. They had dimsum stuff, cheeses, congee, an omelette station, lots of fruits, many different kinds of fruit juices, and standard breakfast stuff. (But I still prefer the Filipino breakfast at Boracay - which is good cause I'm eating a lot less!).
After eating, we went to check out the beach. The beach is not bad, but it's not as nice as Boracay. The sand isn't as white and fine, and water doesn't seem as clear. And there's no water sports! Not close by at least. You have to go out on a boat to smaller islands if you want to do any kind of water sport because the water is too shallow where we are. Boo! The resort hotels here are nicer though. They are much grander, and more manicured. Although we couldn't get internet access in our rooms.
>=( That was sucky cause we could't blog much. This actually takes a lot more than time than I thought it would!
Since there's so many of us, of course it took us a while to figure out what we wanted to do today. It's gonna suck cause we're going to be wasting a lot of time doing this everyday. Bah! Tammy, Chris, Anth, James, Bex and I finally decided we were going to go to a spa. Terry, Henry, Ron, Dar, and Wes ended up just lounging by the pool.
At around 12:30ish, the spa van came to pick us up and we were on our way to Eranda Spa. The spa is located about 5 minutes away from the hotel. It's in this really serene spot, very quiet with these private huts (salas) nestled amongst what felt like a foresty area.
So more decisions to make! Now we had to decide what we wanted to get done, which scrubs and oils we wanted to use, etc... We all decided to get a 3.5 hour spa package and went off in pairs to our own salas.
Tammy and I shared a private hut (thank god I didn't get stuck with James like I was supposed to at first because you're practically half naked the whole time!). Each hut had it's own steam room and an open jacuzzi with a fantastic view. First we changed into these cloth robes, and took a quick shower. Then we got into the steam room, then the jacuzzi (where we had some iced tea and crackers), and back to the steam room again. After about half an hour of that, I got a scrub, and Tammy got a body wrap. I liked my scrub because it felt like a mini massage. I saw Tammy get wrapped up like a mummy, don't think I woulda enjoyed that. Go to Anth's blog to read about his wrap experience. Don't think he enjoyed it too much either. Next was our massage and facial. I think I fell asleep during my massage. This was the best massage I've had so far during the trip. She used oil on me though - which I actually don't like cause I don't like feeling oily after. So after 3.5 hour experience, took a shower and went back to the main lounge to meet the other guys. We were all soo relaxed and our spa day only cost us about $90 cdn. For 4 HOURS!!!! Would have cost us over $400 back home. What a deal!
By this time, it was about 5pm and we were all starving since we didn't get a chance to have lunch. We headed back to the hotel to look for the other guys (turns out they went for a massage by the beach too). It started to rain! Boo!! Tammy, Bex, and I went off first to go for a couple of beers at a bar called Cocos while we waited for everyone else to finish whatever they were doing. Went to a place called Baan Thai for dinner, which was a short walk away from the hotel. It was actually recommended by the hotel but it sucked! The portions were way too small. The curry dishes came in like little soup bowls! Wasn't even enough for one person, let alone to share. Anyway, I think we all left hungry. Christina and I went to the washroom and when we came out, they all had left the restaurant! So we walked the main street, which is lined with little stores selling knockoffs. Chris and I went into a store to look at purses - by that time we had completely lost the other guys. We walked about 4 blocks after that to look for them, and finally decided to go to 7-eleven, buy some beers, and head back to the hotel. So that's what we did!
I wasn’t too happy because I didn’t have my purse, didn’t have my room key, and didn’t have any money cause Wes left the restaurant with it! Anyhoo, chilled with Christina until Tammy called our room to say they were in Anth’s room hanging out and drinking beers too. (Turns out they walked all along the strip looking for us, and eventually settled at Starbucks waiting for us before going back to the hotel. oopps!) Chris stayed in her room and I went to visit the other guys. Bex, Dar, Wes, Henry and Anth were there. I was pretty buzzed so I was being a brat. I was sitting on a bed and asked Anth if it was his bed. He said yes, and I started to rub my feet all over it. And then I rubbed my feet all over his pillow. Haha. He wasn’t impressed so he sat on me and farted on me!! So after I got away, I rubbed my foot all over his pillow again. Haha. Well , it was funny then. Now he just rubs his sweat all over me whenever he gets a chance. Yuck! And he won't let me in his room anymore. Boo. Well we had a good time (except for Anth) until we got a noise complaint and Anth kicked us out.
Went back to our room and tried to watch an episode of Studio 60 on Sunset Strip before I fell asleep! That was the end of our night!
